FBOs

With one airline alone it is possible to operate flights, manage pilots and the fleet, but there is no infrastructure on the ground. Therefore, setting up FBOs, terminals and service stations is the next logical step, but it also makes FTW much more complex. The term FBO is hardly common in the German-speaking world. The abbreviation stands for “Fixed Base Operator”. This operator may be the airport operator. In many cases, however, these are companies that have established themselves at airports and offer aviation services. This includes sightseeing flights, flights for private and business travellers, maintenance and repair of aircraft or even the operation of the entire airfield.

In FTW the FBO is a kind of basic building block, with which the player can settle down at an airport. The focus is on setting up routes whose purpose is to generate corresponding jobs (the route jobs already mentioned in the first manual). FBOs as well as all other objects belonging to the infrastructure sector are neither built nor purchased in FTW, but only rented. The rental costs include everything that is necessary for the operation of the respective object. Consequently, it is also not possible to sell an FBO to another player.

The number of objects that can be placed at an airport is not limited in any way. However, the number of players who settle in one place has an effect on the rental price. With every player who settles at an airport and rents an FBO, the rental prices for all objects increase by 10%. More details can be found in chapter 4.3 A price list with all FBO objects can be found in the appendix!

If individual properties or complete FBOs are no longer required, the corresponding rental agreements can simply be terminated (exception: terminal - minimum term 1 day). The amount for the remaining, unused rental period is then credited to the clearing account. It should be noted that the FBO can only be terminated after all other objects have been terminated beforehand. Petrol stations are automatically emptied in case of cancellation. However, a fee of 50 cents is charged per litre that has to be pumped out. It is therefore advisable to fly or sell the fuel beforehand if possible.
